Canadian Educated New Graduates
New Canadian graduates who have not yet completed the national examination are eligible to apply for registration with the Association in the "provisional" category if they have been offered employment in New Brunswick. This category allows them to work as an occupational therapist under supervision until they receive examination results. They must provide proof that they are registered for the next available examination at time of application.
Provisional members must practice under the general supervision of an occupational therapist registered with NBAOT. General supervision must be in place until the provisional registrant has met all requirements for individual (full) membership.
Provisional registrants must ensure that the supervising OT complete the "Supervisor Acknowledgement Form" and return the signed original to the Association. Please review the Provisional Membership Policy for more information and to complete this form.
Once you have successfully completed the national examination, you must submit verification of successful completion to the Registrar of NBAOT. Upon providing this documentation, your membership status will be changed to "individual" membership with no conditions.
The Registration Committee must meet to approve all applications for registration. The committee meets once a month (generally the second Tuesday) to approve applications. Be sure your application is complete, including all signatures, forms, and required documentation. This will ensure the timely processing of your application.
